Autumn
Here's a painting I completed today called "Autumn Leaves". It's nearly the end of Autumn here in the Northern Rivers region of Australia. Tonight it may get as low as 6 degrees celsius. The cold has finally begun to set in. How refreshing.... so glad I have access to jumpers, blankets, and food. I don't care for heaters or air conditioning.... those devices will just exacerbate temperature extremes (and global warming... unless of course they are being used in a country where there is 100% renewable energy, or a household with greater solar output than they require!). James Taylor is playing in the background.... my daughter Sage is resting after an all-night teenage sleepover.... except for the dogs barking at people or dogs passing on the street, it is peaceful, and enjoyable. Who'd ever suspect there was a global emergency underway! Really there should be sirens going off everywhere. Whenever I feel this way, I usually go around the house trying to turn off power points, attempting to minimize my ecological footprint. I'll put the computer on sleep for awhile after I've posted this blog.... and leave the house in relative darkness for as long as possible. Every little effort makes a difference!
