"Lounge"
"Lounge" is a large acrylic on canvas painting I completed in 2004. It is particularly interesting for me now, as I have been spending so much time on the lounge of late with my ruptured Achilles injury (from playing squash). Lounges are such a big part of our modern lives... strange accesssories to lives lived in the fast lane ... they are resting places... meeting places... the fire gazing (ie tv) throne. They can beautify our homes, or trap us into inactivity (especially when acompanied by a tv). However, overall, their function as a family and community gathering space is essential in our modern lives and homes. I am particularly grateful for the number of wonderful hours of socialising, rest and fascinating dreams mine has delivered over this last few months. I must admit, though... after 67 days without my usual half hour walk a day... I am desperately in need of exercise!
