Remembering 2014...
They say that changing an image by 10% makes it yours legally? Well... while I don't think that's utterly fair... only 1% makes it yours really right? Anyway... for this latest painting of mine, called "The People's Climate March 2014" I have used as my reference a brilliant photograph by Shadia Fayne Wood/ Flickr. The amount of work that has gone into this painting is far more than perhaps the click of a camera's button, but I cannot really claim the work without mentioning the brilliant photographer who was there on site on this momentous of days.
All that said, this painting is about far more than legal implications... it is about the concerned people from 2,808 cities across 166 countries that participated in this day of protest and action towards action to avert the worst case scenarios from global warming, and highlight the implications inaction now will have on future generations. My hope is that rememberance and honour of this day and its activists happens, along with sustained hope for radical change that is necessary to turn around old industries and habits such as burning fosil fuels and corporate (plus individual) greed.
The power of the everyday person is in the vote.. and everyday decisions and actions. Think wisely folks... it's not too dangerous weather-wise now... but our actions now determine the future.
